All NHL rumours come from the original source and are subject to change.
Joel Edmundson Trade Still Possible
Rumour: Pierre LeBrun on TSN’s Insider Trading said that teams have interest in the veteran blueliner. Edmundson returned to the lineup in the Montreal Canadiens game against the Los Angeles Kings. One team wanted to see Edmundson showcased, so he was placed into the lineup.

One of the teams that was interested in Edmundson according to LeBrun is the Calgary Flames. However, fellow TSN insider Craig Button said it’s puzzling that the Flames would want the Brandon, Manitoba native. Button said the Flames need to address inside scoring upfront before taking a look at their defence.
What a Joel Edmundson Trade Would Mean
Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes is hoping for a similar return to what he got from Ben Chiarot. The Florida Panthers paid a hefty ransom to make the deal for Chiarot. Montreal may not get a similar package, but something close to it would be a nice score.
The Canadiens do have an exciting future and haven’t played like a team just trying to end the season. Head coach Martin St. Louis has these younger players doing well despite a run of injuries. Montreal will be a factor in the next seasons with a good core that includes Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki and others.
Calgary knows it has to do something to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoff race. The Flames looked like an early-season contender, but have fallen flat. General manager Brad Treliving has to do something with time running out on the trade deadline.
