Blues Acquire Logan Mailloux From Canadiens Via Trade
Mailloux has only played for the Canadiens for parts of two seasons. The 22-year-old registered two goals and two assists for four points in seven games with the Canadiens. He had an average ice time of 16 minutes and 12 seconds in the limited action he saw at the NHL level.
The Belle River, Quebec native had a Corsi for of 47.2 and a relative Corsi of 2.8. Mailloux spent most of his time with the Laval Rocket of AHL. He totaled 12 goals and 21 assists for 33 points in 63 games last season.
Zachary Bolduc Heading Back to Quebec
Bolduc played in 72 games and registered 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points. The Trois-Rivieres, Quebec native was fourth among all rookies in goals. He was also selected in the 2021 NHL Draft along with Mailloux.
What It Means
It seemed like Mailloux was going to be squeezed out, so he goes to St Louis to get a fresh start. He played well in Laval, but there’s a glut of highly-touted defensive prospects in the Canadiens prospects pool.
That strength allows the Habs to deal from a position of power. They can ship a defensive piece in order bolster their forward ranks.
Bolduc gets a chance to head back to Quebec after a very good rookie campaign. He has a chance to help the Canadiens, who needed some forward help.
